good friends, better skills

recently i got in touch with a friend of mine, it's great to see them doing so well with their projects... makes the drop in the bucket i felt like i knew... feel more like condensation on the sharp point of a needle.

nice glasses

we'll whats next on my plate on the site is to add a #roflhaus section... then see about changing the layout some. i'm compelled to remove all of the particular theme styles and and replace it with blueprintcss for all of the placement and typography wonderfulness. find a less tacky way to use cufon as well.

i'll get some more stuff for the transcription player screens, the project should be wrapped up on my side here soon. then it's time for 'atlas'... which will keep me from working more on the player for several months.

new player skin mockup

honestly, with how it has been coming together, it should be really true to the screen. only major differences will be things that are not always present unless the audio being played has additional demographics attached to it.

the most exciting part is once the software itself is updated - making these in the future will be much easier and allow for less rigid thinking on my part.

simple things, the little details (p1)

one of the things about the latest ‘official’ release of the transcription software is they wanted to implement ‘themes/skins’ support. it was a feature that was removed at one point during the software rewrite since many people didn’t seem to use it.

originally i was told to go with ‘this sort of look’ which was successful and done under a pretty strong deadline. this time i wanted to have more time and went with a much lighter look.

cutting the images up has been interesting as support for it is being tested while i work on it. this is great for me as a designer so i can see everything come together as i get parts done. with support being built in we’re able to catch all the small flaws we wanted to fix on the ‘original’ skin. overall this will ensure both skins are better for it. atleast that’s how it sounds when the grown-ups talk to me.

if i’m able to show some screen shots of things, i’ll try to show some examples of progress in my next post.

update:basically i will be able to share stuff, i just can’t say for whom the project(s) are for keeping it generic.

a start

once upon a time, this site was gutted and regutted over and over again because i was too lazy to really do anything with it - plus having a sandbox i didn't care about came in really handy.

hopefully soon throughout the week, i'll be able to share a little bit with you on the work i've been helping with on some transcription software, which i'll explain later on as well.
